Yoghurt Barn: Healthier and healthier and yummier and yummier!!

Dear Frenchonista’s,

Our beloved neighborhood Yoghurt Barn has just become even more of a hotspot to go to, because now they make Blended Yoghurts, with superfoods and herbs and veggies. WE absolutely love it that we can just pop by and get a bar experience as well as a healthy boost for any moment of the day!

WE are still in love…!

Milachocolata: Everything is Chocolate!

Dear Frenchonista’s,

We need to tell you about Milachocolata! Anna, the driving force behind the company, makes the most wonderful creations out of chocolate and we from Frenchonista have enjoyed them on various occasions. She made cute shoes out of chocolate for a photo shoot of ours and for Samia’s birthday she surprised her with a wonderful clutch, all made out of the best chocolate!

Milachocolata creates Haute Chocolate for parties, events, fairs, or for anything you might imagine would look and taste better with some chocolate. Anna also organizes workshops, great for a gift to someone who’d love to learn more about chocolate or for a nice activity with friends.

Think “Chocolat” the movie with Johnny Depp and Juliette Binoche and you’ll know what I mean….chocolate’s just the natural antidepressant! ;-)

Anyway, we think she rocks and we really love her work!

Check it all out on http://www.milachocolata.nl/home/ !

Martine Brand in Galerie Pien Rademakers! Until 20 July!!

Dear Frenchonista’s,

I hope you remember our previous posts about the lovely and talented illustrator Martine Brand. For those of you in Holland, her work can now be admired at the Galerie Pien Rademakers in Amsterdam until 20 July. Besides seeing the exposition, you will also have the chance to buy one of her illustrations at the gallery, so we urge you to go, because her illustrations are coveted by both fashionistas and designers.
When Samia went to see the exposition she literally got goosebumps and we both were so proud and honored to see our blog featured in one of her gorgeous books.

Martine lives in Paris and draws the world of fashion in an imaginative, dreamy and…well, gorgeous manner. She works for various famous fashion magazines such as Vogue and L’Officiel Italia and for clients such as Chanel, Piaget, Ferrari and Dolce & Gabbana. Samia met her in Amsterdam this year and loves her as a person just as much as she loves her work.

The Galerie Pien Rademakers is on Prinsengracht 570. Don’t miss it!

Cointreau – Fizz on!

Dear Frenchonista’s.

It’ll be good weather next weekend, people, we are waiting for this rain to pass, so why not organize a “Second Welcoming To Spring” party and make sure to prepare a nice pitcher of Cointreau Fizz!

Need we remind you how to Cointreau Fizz? No problem:

-50 ml of Cointreau
-Juice of 1/2 fresh lime
-Sparkling water

Of course there are lots of ways to vary…with mint, cucumber, basil, raspberries…hmmm…why not a bit of fresh chilly (not for the faint hearted, only for you spicy Frenchonista’s out there!)

Anyway, we LOVE Cointreau and we always have them present at our events, like recently at our glammy VIP photo shoot. Good drinks make pictures better. Actually, they make everything better! ;-)

Frenchonista at Art’Otel and 5&33!! VIP Glamour Photo Shoot!!!!

Dear Frenchonista’s,

It will not have escaped our faithful followers that we had an AMAZING VIP photo shoot of the new Frenchonista Clutch Collection at the beautiful Art’Otel in Amsterdam. As you know we’ve been fans since the hotel and the restaurant opened, we have had fabulous dinners there and we have drunk one too many cocktail in their chic and inspiring bar on more than one occasion!

So…we were extremely happy when Art’Otel and 5&33 allowed us to have our photo shoot in one of their suites end last month. Most of Frenchonista’s *famous* angels were there and they were gorgeous as ever.
5&33 provided breakfast in the suite so we were catered for beautifully.

Our model line-up was (tadaaaaa!): Miryanna van Reeden, Ovo Drenth, Beertje van Beers, Coosje Smid, Ginette Tellier, Rianne Swierstra, Bianca Portis, Hoda Hamdaoui and Nodar Ramsis. What a team!!

The glamorous and sensual dresses were by designer Leon Klassen Bos (so honored!), we had manicures from Red Carpet manicure, make-up by Lavertu, and we had a great goodiebag!
Thanks to Art’otel, Maison PR, Mooi PR, Unlimited PR, So PR, Lavertu cosmetics, Ladyshape, Enchantra, Cointreau, Smart and Sexy, Melli Mello, Simply PR, Manjewell, Uzurii, Ziana La Roussa, Gelaze, Milachocolata and Asia Paruch and her Spray Tan!

All in all it was a day – as all days at the Art’Otel and 5&33, really – to never forget. Check out what we’re talking about in the pictures here below!

Hotspot Arabic Lounge!

Dear Frenchonista’s,

The Arabic Lounge is still going strong! You already know it’s a very Frenchonista hangout (interior design by our own Samia!) and we had some great parties there last year, so don’t forget to go soon! The last time Samia and I went we ate like queens, of course, Samia had a couscous dish with beef and the taste sensation was sweet and salt…so good! I had a beautiful tagine and then of course there’s delicious desserts…

The Arabic Lounge is located on Prins Hendrikkade 194, Amsterdam. Follow them on Facebook so you can see when they have cabaret and belly dancing shows!

Hotspot: Boca’s Park

Dear Frenchonista’s.

Right in the middle of the Pijp, where Samia lives, you will find this new Amsterdam hotspot for lunch and dinner. The concept is simple and very delicious and inspired by Spain (owners Maarten, Philip and Miguel have lived there for a while). At lunch they serve an array of amazingly yummy sandwiches. The great thing is that there’ a menu at your table on which you can easily select the small sized sandwiches (35 of them!!), by checking them on the list, and so you can try more than one (which is what you’ll want, believe me!).

In the evening they have big platters of meat, cold cuts, fish, vegetarian dishes all combined with lovely bread and wine. The atmosphere is laid back and you can even eat at the bar. Imagine warm weather outside and you’ll think you’re in Madrid.

Go try it asap, people! Boca’s Park can be found on Sarphatipark 4. You can find them on Facebook as well!

5&33: What better place to be?

Dear Frenchonista’s,

I had a fabulous evening at 5&33 just before the holidays. We wrote about the opening of the cooler than cool Art’otel in Amsterdam some time ago and since then I’ve been dying to go for dinner and of course cocktails and I was not disappointed!

First of all, everyone is super friendly and great service is a priority – maybe that’s part of why I felt like I wasn’t in Holland. The cuisine is mediterranean and in fact most of the cooks and personnel in the restaurant are Italian. Each dish is prepared and served with care. I was spoiled, got more than I ordered and our waiter Emanuele took care of our every need. Dishes I loved: The zucchini chips, the yellow tail, the meat cuts (a great antipasto)…

Then, after dinner, we headed to the bar area, which is close to where a stairway takes you down to the art gallery. There’s a curtain separating the stairway to the art gallery from the bar area on which lots of art is projected, images and effects, different ones continuously. It’s all very stylish and original, as is the lobby and the library. You know you are in a hotel but although you’re not an overnight guest, you feel welcome(d) as if you were one!

After the amazing cocktail “Holy Viagra” I was almost tempted to book a room right then and there, and fall asleep with a big smile on my face.

Great great place in Amsterdam! Keep up the good work, 5&33, and we’ll be back – again and again!

Need a ride? Uber Easy! “Everyone’s Private Driver!”

Dear Frenchonista’s,

We’d like to introduce UBER, a luxurious yet affordable way to move around in the city and from city to city. Uber has SO many advantage over a regular taxi:

1. They have an App and with one click you can reserve a car and be picked up wherever you like!!
2. Taxis sometimes refuse to drive you somewhere, because it’s “just around the corner” (in their opinion, even when it’s raining and you have a heavy suitcase or a new hairdo) but UBER cars only have a minimum tariff of 10 euros and they’ll drive you wherever you want, even if it’s from, say, Central station to Spuistraat. Just select “UberBlack” on the Uber App.
3. UBER cars are beautiful and comfortable, offer a bottle of water for on the road and you can pay with credit card, no need to tip either
4. If you feel like an extra luxurious experience you can opt for the UberLux experience, with even more luxurious cars and the very best drivers.

We’ve already used the service and absolutely LOVE it!

Now the good news: We have a wonderful offer for you! Like and share this post and you will get a code for a 20 euro credit!! So download the Uber app (for free, of course, you can find it in your app store!), participate to this competition and get your first ride for free via Frenchonista!! Just follow the instructions when you register and use the promo code FRENCHONISTA
